About Us

System4 was founded by Phil Kubec and Ed Hammer with the objective of creating an improved business model in the commercial cleaning industry.  Both partners had formerly built $300 million national companies, Phil in the commercial cleaning industry, and Ed in the car rental industry. The idea was to take what Phil and Ed had learned from their previous successes and, starting with a clean slate, to “create a better mouse trap”.  The “better mouse trap” is a combination of Phil’s experience in building a franchise janitorial company from an individual location to an organization with 7,000 franchisees and 32,000 customers, and Ed’s experience in growing a rental car business from start-up to 435 locations by leveraging proprietary software solutions.  From System4’s franchisee-friendly pricing model, to the web based information processing and metric systems (for a description of SMARTS see the Technology section), to the caliber of our Master Franchise Owners (see Owner Profiles) System4 is a cut above the competition and the alternatives.
